Build a Natural Trellis for your Peas
Step 1
Picked up a bundle of these bendy Willow(?) branches at Goodwill...
50 branches hot glued together and sold as "art" for $6! Worth it.
Select a sizeable pot that will not easily fall over in case of high winds during stormy Spring weather. Press the branches into the soil a good 6 inches or more to provide a sturdy foundation. Space them about 2-3 inches apart in a circle with a pea start planted at the base of each branch.
The willow branches should provide enough space every now and then to reach your hand through to harvest pea pods at will.
Step 2
Gather the ends of the ends of the branches and tie together with regular garden twine. In a few weeks we'll have several conical 7 foot towers covered in pea flowers in the coming weeks. 🙂
Sit back and enjoy the harvest!
ProTip: Grow peas with purple pods to spot them more readily as you cruise your Yarden
